How to Restore Windows 2000 From Command
Windows 2000 is a personal computer operating system. If it encounters some problem that results in the overall malfunction of your computer, restore the system to an earlier date when everything worked properly. One method of doing this is to access the System Restore tool located within the start menus. However, if this cannot be reached, the command prompt can be used for system restoration. Follow these steps to activate the command prompt and restore the system
- Turn your computer on. Press the on-off switch.
- Press the "F8" key during boot-up. This has to be done before the Windows logo is displayed on the screen.
- Select the "Safe Mode with a Command Prompt" option from the menu. Use the arrow keys to do this. Then, press "Enter".
- Log in to Windows as an administrator. Only an administrator can restore the computer from the command prompt.
- Type "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" into the command prompt window and then press enter.
- Select "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time." Then click "Next."
- Click the date to which you would like to restore your computer. Do this by clicking a date on the calender. All available dates will be click-able. Then click "Next."
- Check to see that all of your desired restore information is correct. Click "Next" to finalize the restoration.
- Restart your computer. It will be working from the date to which you restored it.
